The town of Donja Stubica and Hotel Terme Jezerčica are located in the central part of the northern slopes of Medvednica (Zagorje), in the green beauty of the Stubica Valley. The southern part encompasses the lush flora of Medvednica Nature Park, while the northern part is surrounded by vibrant Zagorje hills.

Donja Stubica and Gupčev kraj are undoubtedly the most interesting historical urban components of northern Croatia.

Oršić Castle and the Peasant Uprisings Museum

Oršić Castle houses the Peasant Uprisings Museum, a chapel, a gallery, and a souvenir shop. The museum offers a rich insight into the history of peasant uprisings, while the gallery showcases a variety of artworks. Nearby the castle, there is a four-hundred-year-old linden tree. According to tradition, in front of this linden tree, the peasant leader Matija Gubec began his historic uprising in the 16th century, making it an important historical symbol.

Stubički Golubovec Castle

On the road from Stubičke Toplice to Marija Bistrica, there is an estate known since the time of the Peasant Uprisings, which, through changing owners over the centuries, has become a guardian of the culture and tradition of this region. The castle is currently home to the Kajkaviana Society, dedicated to preserving Croatian Kajkavian heritage. The permanent exhibition "Kajkaviana Croatica" is open to the public, and concerts, performances, lectures, and promotions are regularly held in the castle's premises.

Matija Gubec's House

Gupčeva hiža, located in the heart of the Stubica region, bears witness to the challenging yet glorious past and rich tradition of this area. This historic house, a symbol of resilience and struggle, provides insight into the life and work of Matija Gubec, the leader of the Peasant Uprising. Visitors can experience the spirit of the time through authentic artifacts and reconstructed rooms that reflect the everyday life of peasants in the 16th century. Gupčeva hiža is not only a monument to history but also a living testimony of culture and heritage, reminding us of the importance of the struggle for justice and freedom.

Krapina Neanderthal Museum

The Krapina Neanderthal Museum is located near the world-famous site of Krapina Neanderthals, "Hušnjakovo," creating a unique visiting experience. This museum provides a fascinating insight into the life and culture of Neanderthals who inhabited the Krapina area over 125,000 years ago.
